Laser problem 2—what kind of maintenance does a laser machine need?

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Are there a lot of maintenance costs involved in using a laser engraver?

You may ask this question before you make decision for buying a laser machine.

Actually Apart from the laser tube itself being replaced every 3000—5000 hours there is virtually no maintenance. There is No belts, no bearings, no circuit boards. Nothing has had to be repaired on it. In ten years I’ve had it, I’ve replaced the focal lens, not because I had to, but I thought it was time and one mirror, because I thought it looked a little cloudy. The maintenance on these things are incredible. It takes so little effort, as long as you keep them clean. If you’re running a lot stuff that causes smoke, you want to clean it up and keep the machine clean so it runs good. The more you run it, the better the machine performs. The less you run it, that’s where you run into problems. If you have your laser sit for long periods of time, you’ll start to notice more problems with your laser tube because your gas starts to separate.

Laser problem 1–why does the laser only move seconds then stop?

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

sometimes when you operate Redsail laser engraver or laser cutter, you may face problems as below:

Yesterday it worked perfectly, but today, laser machine only moves several steps, then it stops. Why?

If you check carefully of the machine, next to the control panel, there is a E-STOP—its emergency stop. Means, when you face problem, press this button, the machine will stop immediately to keep operator safe.

But after push this button, if you do not pull it out, laser engraver or laser cutter will keep under this condition. Then when you restart the machine, it will only move few steps then stops.

So, dont worry, pull the button out.
